Welcome to the AltLife Privacy Policy (the "Policy"). The Policy explains how AltLife collects, stores, protects, and shares user information, and with whom AltLife shares it. AltLife users (each a “User” and collectively “Users”) should read this Policy in conjunction with AltLife’s T&Cs.
AltLife collects information about Users. In addition, Users may choose to use the AltLife application (the “App”) to share information with other AltLifers, including User friends and contacts.

When Users download the App and create an account ("Account"), AltLife collects certain information ("Registration Information") about Users, such as:
Users are also required to create a password in connection with the registration of an Account. Once Users register, Users will be able to review and change this information at any time by accessing Users’ “Profile” pages. Users control the User profile and can correct or update User information at any time by logging in to AltLife.
The information AltLife collects helps to enhance the App and verify our Users. Registration Information such as username may be visible to the public on User profile pages.
AltLife may ask Users to provide Users’ full name, address and email address. Such details may be shared with third parties. AltLife may also collect additional information in connection with Users’ use of AltLife, for example if Users use AltLife’s electronic messaging function.
AltLife recommends and encourages Users (and all our community) to think carefully about the information Users disclose. AltLife does not recommend that Users put email addresses, URLs, instant messaging details, phone numbers, full names or addresses, credit card details, national identity numbers, drivers' licence details and other sensitive information on User profiles.
Please be careful about posting sensitive details about yourself on your User profile such as health details. While Users may voluntarily provide this information to us when Users create User profiles, including User sexual preferences, there is no requirement to do so. Please remember that photographs that Users post on AltLife may reveal information about yourself. When Users do upload and choose to tell AltLife sensitive information about themselves, Users are explicitly consenting to AltLife processing of User information and making this public to other Users.
When Users post information about themselves or use the messaging function, the amount of personal information Users share is at Users’ own risk. Please see Clause 4 below for more information on who can access what Users post on AltLife. If Users post anything that is inconsistent with our T&Cs, AltLife reserve the right to terminate User Account.
For safety and security and to ensure Users have the best possible user experience, AltLife requires Users to verify their accounts and might ask for User phone number. And AltLife also wants to avoid fake AltLife accounts being created which can be used for malicious activities and cybercrime.
To prevent abuse of the App, AltLife uses automated decisions to block accounts as part of its anti-spam procedures. To do this, AltLife’s systems check accounts and messages for content that indicates breaches of AltLife’s T&Cs. If an account or message meets certain criteria that demonstrate that the T&Cs are likely to have been breached, the relevant account will automatically be blocked. All Users of accounts that have been blocked will be notified that their account has been blocked and affected Users can contact AltLife to contest the decision.
If Users decide to purchase any of our premium services, AltLife will process User payment information and retain this securely for the prevention of fraud and for audit/tax purposes.
Finally, AltLife wants to keep in touch with Users to make sure Users know about the great promotions and offers AltLife has available. If Users approve, AltLife will use User email addresses and phone numbers to send Users information on these. Users can withdraw this consent at any time via Settings in the app.
By using the App, Users acknowledge that AltLife is a global app operating through servers located in a number of countries around the world. If Users live in a country with data protection laws, the storage of User personal data may not provide Users with the same protections as Users enjoy in Users’ countries of residence.
If Users turn these features on, when Users use mobile devices, AltLife will collect information about WiFi access points as well as other location information about User longitude and latitude and may save User device's coordinates to offer certain features to Users. This information helps us identify Users’ physical location and AltLife may use it to personalise the App and make it easier for Users to interact with other Users, by enabling the information to be displayed and shared with other members choosing to view “nearby” posts.
If Users have enabled location services, but wish to turn them off, Users can do so by the following methods:
AltLife keeps User personal information only as long as AltLife needs it for legitimate business purposes (as set out in Clause 11 below) and as permitted by applicable law.
In practice, AltLife deletes or anonymises User information upon deletion of User accounts (following the safety retention window), unless:
AltLife may collect information about User devices when Users use the App including the unique device identifier, device model, operating system, and Mac address. In addition, if Users permit us to do so, the App may access User device's address book solely to add someone to User contacts.
AltLife may keep track of how Users interact with links available on AltLife including third-party services and clients by redirecting clicks or through other means. AltLife may share aggregate click statistics such as how many times a link was clicked on.
Cookies are small data files that are transferred to Users’ mobile phones store information about website visits, recognise Users and User preferences each time Users visit AltLife, and ensure site functionality and enables us to provide the services AltLife members request.
The cookies AltLife collects enable AltLife to learn how people interact with AltLife. Cookies store information about User website visits and can recognise Users and User preferences each time Users visit the AltLife site.
AltLife’s use of cookies and local storage devices is basically related to the performance of AltLife’s site, such as analytics that help us determine how our site is performing and ensuring a smooth and trouble-free experience for our members and visitors.
If for any reason Users decide that Users do not want all of User AltLife activities to be stored Users may set User browser and mobile settings to block cookies and local storage devices.
Analytics and research AltLife use Google Analytics to collect information about how visitors use the site. The cookies collect information in an anonymous form, including the number of visitors to the App, where visitors have come from and the pages they visited. AltLife need to use certain cookies and save data to User local storage devices to ensure our Users have the best possible experience. They assist with User navigation of our site, ensuring pages load quickly and respond promptly to User requests.
AltLife’s main goal is to ensure Users’ experience on AltLife is an enjoyable one. In order to deliver an enjoyable experience to Users, AltLife may use User Registration and other information to:

User Consent
If Users consent, AltLife may share or disclose User Registration Information, such as when Users use a third-party AltLife client or application to access User Account.
Service Providers
AltLife engages certain trusted third parties to perform functions and provide services to us. AltLife may share User Registration Information with these third parties, but only for the purposes of performing these functions and providing such services e.g. information technology companies (hardware and software) which provide services to support AltLife’s products.
Moderators
To monitor activity on the apps and approve content.
Payment Processing and Telecommunications Companies
To facilitate payments for AltLife’s premium services.
Law and Harm
As AltLife mentioned in the T&Cs, AltLife think it is very important that all AltLifers behave whilst using the App. AltLife will cooperate with all third parties to enforce their intellectual property or other rights. AltLife will also cooperate with law enforcement enquiries from within or outside User country of residence where AltLife are required to by law or to protect the vital interests of a person. This may include preserving or disclosing any of User information, including User Registration Information, if AltLife believes in good faith that it is necessary to comply with a law or regulation, or when AltLife believes that disclosure is necessary to comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal request; to protect the safety of any person; to address fraud, security or technical issues e.g. through anti-spam providers to protect the service from criminal activity or to protect our rights or property or those of third parties. In such cases AltLife may raise or waive any legal objection or right available to AltLife.
Business Transfers
In the event that AltLife undergoes a business transition or change of ownership, such as a merger, acquisition by another company, reorganisation, or sale of all or a portion of AltLife’s assets, or in the event of insolvency or administration, AltLife may be required to disclose User personal data.
Aggregated Information
AltLife may share aggregated information with third parties that includes User personal data (but which doesn’t identify Users directly) together with other information including log data for industry analysis and demographic profiling. Users may opt-out of receiving marketing messages by using the opt-out mechanisms and links provided.
AltLife has built certain features to enable Users to share their AltLife experiences with the world. Our App is designed to make it easier for Users to connect with other Users and to interact with them. If Users register or login to the App using User Facebook account, Users are authorising us to access certain Facebook account information, including information Users make available via Facebook, User friends list, current location and those friends Users have in common with other AltLifers. Users also understand that User AltLife profile and other information Users make available via the App, including information Users provide directly or indirectly through Facebook (i.e., User Facebook photos, User name, age, approximate location, friends Users have in common with other AltLifers and other profile information), may be shared by AltLifers with individuals who may or may not be Users or via third-party applications in AltLife’s sole discretion. For example, a User may recommend Users as a match to his or her Facebook friends by sharing User picture, regardless of whether such friend(s) is also a User of the App. Users might share information like the photos and messages Users send or upload and any metadata provided with those messages, along with any comments or information Users provide in connection with User photos.
When using AltLife, Users should assume that anything Users post or submit on the App may be publicly-viewable and accessible. AltLife wants our AltLifers to be careful about posting information that will eventually be made public.
Users may access or modify the Registration Information Users provided at anytime or permanently delete User Accounts. When a User Account is deactivated, AltLife takes reasonable efforts to make sure it is no longer viewable on the App. For up to 30 days it is still possible to restore User Account if it was accidentally or wrongfully deactivated. After 30 days, AltLife begins the process of deleting User Accounts from AltLife’s systems. AltLife is not responsible for any information, pictures, comments, or other content that is deleted from AltLife’s systems resulting from the deactivation of User Account.
To prevent abuse and/or misuse of AltLife by a User following termination or deletion of a profile/Account AltLife shall retain such information as AltLife deems in its sole discretion may be necessary to ensure that User does not open a new Account and profile in breach of our T&Cs and to ensure compliance with all laws and regulations.
Warning: Even after Users remove information from User profile or delete User Account, copies of that information may still be viewable and/or accessed to the extent such information has been previously shared with others, or copied or stored by other Users or to the extent such information has been shared with search engines. AltLife cannot control this, nor does AltLife accept any liability for this. If Users have given third-party applications or websites access to User personal information they may retain such information to the extent permitted under their terms of service or privacy policies. Removed and deleted information may persist in backup copies for up to 30 days to enable restoration.
AltLife does not knowingly collect any information about or market to children, minors or anyone under the age of 18. If Users are under the age of 18 years old, AltLife request that Users do not submit information to AltLife. If AltLife becomes aware that a child, minor or anyone under the age of 18 has registered with AltLife and provided AltLife with personal information, AltLife will take steps to terminate that person's registration and delete their Registration Information from AltLife. If AltLife does delete a profile because Users violated our no children rules, AltLife may retain User email and IP address to ensure that Users do not try to get around AltLife’s rules by creating a new profile.
AltLife takes commercially reasonable security measures to help protect User information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access, or disclosure. Unfortunately no website or Internet transmission is ever 100% secure and even AltLife cannot guarantee that unauthorised access, hacking, data loss or other breaches will never occur. If Users ever think someone has had access to User social media password, please report it to the relevant social media platform and change User password immediately. AltLife cannot guarantee the security of User personal data while it is being transmitted to AltLife’s site and any transmission is at User’ own risk.
ALTLIFE EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ANY REPRESENTATION OR WARRANTY, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, WITH RESPECT TO ANY BREACHES OF SECURITY, DAMAGE TO USER DEVICE, OR ANY LOSS OR UNAUTHORISED USE OF USER REGISTRATION INFORMATION OR OTHER DATA.
If Users have registered with AltLife using a third-party social media platform, such as Facebook, User AltLife profile will be available to all Users of AltLife whether via our App or our partners' websites. Remember that when Users register with a third-party, Users are also giving them personal information, so AltLife recommends that Users read their privacy policies as AltLife does not control how they use their information.
If Users have registered on one of these third-party websites, such as Facebook, or Users have verified User Account via a third-party Website, AltLife may connect User AltLife profile with User profile on such websites.
If Users have created an AltLife profile through a third-party website and Users do not want to link User AltLife profile to User profile on the third-party website, AltLife cannot amend these settings. Please visit the application settings on User third-party website profile and follow the instructions to remove the AltLife access permissions.
AltLife only uses the APIs, Tokens, Widgets, or other means provided by the applicable Social Media Account to integrate User Social Media Account with AltLife’s App. As such, AltLife only receives the limited information that each Social Media Account permits to be transferred.
From time to time AltLife may disclose User contact information to third parties to allow them to market their products or services to Users or for other marketing purposes. This may be information AltLife received from Users offline and online. If Users want us to stop further sharing User email contact information with third parties (if AltLife have User email contact information), Users may notify us at [feedback@team.AltLife.com]. Please follow the instructions provided to Users by third parties to unsubscribe from their messages. If Users have opted-out as described above, and thereafter Users choose to use a service or promotion that requires us to contact Users or share User information with a third-party, then User previous opt-out preferences will not apply to such service.
As AltLife evolves, AltLife may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time. The most current version of the policy will govern our use of User information and will always be at [AltLife.com/privacy/]. If AltLife makes a change to this policy that, in AltLife’s sole discretion, is material, AltLife will notify Users, for example, via an email to the email associated with User Account or by posting a notice within AltLife. By continuing to access or use the App after those changes become effective, Users agree to be bound by the revised Privacy Policy.
User access to the App, as well as this Privacy Policy are governed and interpreted by the laws of the State of Hong Kong. By using the App, Users are consenting to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Hong Kong. Users agree that such courts shall have in personam jurisdiction and venue and waive any objection based on inconvenient forum. Users agree that Users will not file or participate in a class action against Alt life. In the event there is a discrepancy between this English language version and any translated copies of the Policy, the English version shall prevail. This Policy was last updated on 11 July 2020.
